ATQ Newsletter: February 2023

Happy new year! This has been an extremely fast and brilliant first half term of the new year, full of wonderful new staff, and seven new ATQ students! A big thank you goes out to everyone who has supported us over the last year, and into 2023. Currently we are working with and supporting 17 ATQ students, who all have 100% attendance since the beginning of the academic year, which is an outstanding achievement.

We are so pleased to announce that we have recently received funding of £10,000 from the Community Foundation For Calderdale, and this funding is currently in use. This is helping us to fund new students and their sessions, as a part of the ‘#iwill fund’. This includes tutor costs, equipment such as books and stationary, and a safe, secure and flexible environment for independent learning. Now our students can complete their homework in a supportive space, where positive relationships are seen as fundamental. Sessions at ATQ focus on well-being, social and emotional learning and the skills to build resilience and improve students’ educational outcomes.

Additionally, local West Yorkshire property company, VCEP LTD has given an amazing opportunity to one of our ATQ students by donating a year's worth of tuition and mentorship as part of their ‘business sponsorship’ scheme. This will make a huge difference for this young person. A big thank you to VCEP LTD, we are truly honoured that an esteemed local, family-run business such as VCEP LTD sees the value in what we provide here.

We have also launched a Crowdfunder campaign to raise money to enable us to open our top room in the office for our ATQ students, where they can come and study in a safe, warm place. You can pledge to our Crowdfunder here

We are extremely grateful for the generosity of the fantastic individuals, organisations and businesses who all contribute and donate to ATQ. If you would like to donate you can do so directly below or through our website (atq.org.uk). Additionally, we have an easyfundraising page, where you can log onto the app which partners with over 7000 brands who will donate part of what you spend to ATQ at no extra cost to you!

Donations of old/unused laptops are always appreciated, as this enables more of our students to be reached over zoom lessons, and increases the laptops available for independent study. At our site in Hebden Bridge, second-hand books are on sale for donation for ATQ, or if you have any old books of any kind, we are always collecting and we appreciate the donation.

Thank you once again for all of your continued support,
Best wishes,

Jo and the ATQ team x
